The government’s bursary program in South Africa is now accepting applications. Students from all throughout the nation can begin submitting grant applications for the 2024 school year. On the official website, students can submit an application for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas), which is available to those attending public universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges. Before you can submit a Nsfas application for 2024, all students must first create a myNsfas account. Students access and manage crucial Nsfas related information using the myNsfas portal.

Date of NSFAS Application Opening 2024

The NSFAS is currently accepting applications for 2024. Your NSFAS funding application must be submitted by September 28, 2023. For 2024, the deadline for applications is currently January 31. Make sure to submit your application before the deadline as late applications won’t be accepted.

Who Qualify To Receive NSFAS Funding

To qualify for bursaries, applicants must adhere to four fundamental standards;

  • every South African national
  • All winners of SASSA grants are eligible for funding
  • applicants whose annual household combined income does not exceed R350 000
  • A disabled person: The total annual household income cannot exceed R600,000.
  • students who started their studies before 2024 and whose household income is not higher than R122 000 annually

Document To Apply NSFAS Bursary

You will need the following to complete your NSFAS application:

  • Your own cellphone number and email address
  • Copy of your ID or birth certificate
  • ID copies of parents, guardians,s or spouse
  • Your proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
  • Your parents, guardian, or spouse’s proof of income
  • If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
  • Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form, click here to download
  • An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and

How To Apply For Nsfas 2024

  • Access your myNsfas account.
  • Put in the data needed by Nsfas.
  • Select “Apply”
  • Once you have entered all the information that applies to you (parents’ information, mother’s information, guardian information, spouse information for married students, etc.), click the next button.
  • You must upload the appropriate papers after completing all sections and processes.
  • Click “Next” once you have uploaded each of the required papers.
  • Verify the information and documents you supplied are accurate, then click “submit.”
