How To Withdraw NSFAS Money 2023/2024

If you wish to withdraw cash from participating merchants Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, SPAR, Choppies or Boxer, please create a cash voucher (see below for instructions).

Be warned that these stores have daily cash withdrawal limits ranging from R200 to R1000.

Using a cellphone

  • Send a text message to *120*176#.
  • Put your password in.
  • Select “Send”
  • Click Send after selecting Option 1: Cash Voucher.
  • Add funds, then click Send.
  • Your recently made voucher will be shown.

On the internet:

  • Access the website at https://celbux.appspot.com by typing it into your browser.
  • Type your mobile number and password into the appropriate fields, then click the Login button to access your account.
  • Click Pay and enter the desired amount.
  • Click Done
  • If you don’t use the entire amount of the voucher, what happens? Your cash balance will be increased if you used a cash voucher to make the purchase.

Using a Google or Facebook account, sign up for myNSFAS, and then update your cell phone number to reflect the changes. Remember that this new number must be unique and that you must always have access to it.

NSFAS Application Closing Date

The following academic year’s NSFAS online submission system will go live on September 28, 2023. The only day that applicants can browse and submit award applications is on the NSFAS application opening day. 

Who May Submit NSFAS Funding Applications

To be eligible for bursaries, applicants must fulfill the four criteria listed below:

  • everyone in South Africa
  • Funding is available to every recipient of an SASSA award.
  • candidates with a total yearly household income of less than R350 000 who are physically or mentally impaired The annual household income cannot exceed R600,000.
  • students who started their studies before 2024 and whose annual household income is less than R122 000
