South Africa’s government is currently accepting applications for its bursary program. For the 2024 academic year, students from all throughout the country can start submitting award applications. Students can apply for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas), which is offered to individuals enrolled in public universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, via the official website. All students must first create a myNsfas account before they can submit a Nsfas application for the class of 2024. Students use the myNsfas portal to view and manage important Nsfas-related data.
NSFAS Application Deadline 2024
Applications for the NSFAS are now being accepted for 2024. By September 28, 2023, your NSFAS grant application must be received. Currently, January 31 is the application deadline for 2024. Since late submissions won’t be allowed, be sure to submit your application before the deadline.

Who Qualify To Receive NSFAS Funding
To qualify for bursaries, applicants must adhere to four fundamental standards;
- every South African national
- All winners of SASSA grants are eligible for funding
- applicants whose annual household combined income does not exceed R350 000
- A disabled person: The total annual household income cannot exceed R600,000.
- students who started their studies before 2024 and whose household income is not higher than R122 000 annually
How to Submit an Online NSFAS 2024/2025 Application
- Edit an existing myNSFAS account or make one from scratch.
- For further information, go to www.nsfas.org.za.
- Go there by selecting the “myNSFAS” tab.
- decide on “Register.”
- To grant NSFAS permission to access your data and validate it, check the relevant box.
- Your South African identity document’s ID number must be entered precisely as it appears on the form (ID)
- Using your ID number as a guide, you should supply your full name and last name.
- You need to enter the email address you’re using right now.
- Check your email for correctness.
- Please provide your cellphone number.
Application Document for NSFAS Bursary
For your NSFAS application to be complete, you will require the following:
- Your personal email and mobile phone number
- ID copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse as well as a copy of your birth certificate
- Your income documentation or one year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
- Proof of income from your parents, guardian, or spouse
- You will not be needed to provide proof of income if you are an SASSA grant recipient.
- Click here to download the Disability Annexure A Form, which applicants with disabilities must complete and sign.
- A completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form, available for download here, must be submitted by an applicant who has been identified by the Department of Social Development as a Vulnerable Child.
