The NSFAS bursary helps students who want to further their education by defraying the cost of attending any public university or college in South Africa to pursue specified degrees. For students who deserve it, this lessens their burden of student debt. To be eligible to receive money to help with their tuition fee and other study related costs, eligible students must complete the NSFAS online application via the online application form portal. kindly read below;
The Two Types Of Qualification NSFAS Bursary Funds
There are two categories of qualifications that may be funded:
- undergraduate Studies or a four-year Bachelor of Education (B Ed) degree with a focus on the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3), the Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–6), the Senior Phase (Grades 7–9), and the FET Phase (Grade 10-12).
- Graduate studies or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education lasting a year (PGCE). Postgraduate degrees with multiple specializations, such as those in the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3) and Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–6), the Intermediate Phase and Senior Phase, the Senior Phase (Grades 7–9) and FET Phase, are also valid (Grade 10 –12).
NSFAS Requirements and Financial Qualifications
- citizen of South Africa (foreign students do not apply)
- applicants who meet the academic standards to pursue an undergraduate degree at a public university or TVET college
- Previous candidates who already have a reference number for their application shouldn’t apply.
- NOT receiving any grants from the NSFAS for the current academic year (only unfunded students)
How do I apply online for NSFAS
Application for NSFAS Account Funding:
- Create an online account with myNSFAS, or update an existing one.
- Check out www.nsfas.org.za
- Go to the “myNSFAS” tab.
- Select “Register”
- Check the box to let NSFAS to validate your information.
- then type your ID number as it appears on your South African Identity Document in the form (ID)
- Enter your full name and last name according to your ID number.
- Put your current email address here.
- Validate your email address.
- Enter your mobile phone number.
- Set up a password.
- Verify password
- upload a copy of your ID
- Select “Register”
- An OTP will be issued to the entered email and mobile number (this OTP expires after 24 hours)
- Enter the OTP and press “Submit”
NSFAS 2023 Opening Date
NSFAS Applications are now open for 2024. Apply for NSFAS Funding from September 28, 2023.
