The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is now where students who want to enroll in a public university or college in 2024 can submit their application for NSFAS bursaries (NSFAS). The government agency NSFAS provides loans and scholarships to help students enroll because a TVET institution or one of the 26 public universities can only admit students from houses with a specific level of income. A student must submit their applications for 2024 before the deadline if they qualify for funding through the National Student Aid Scheme (NSFAS). According to the timeline, the NSFAS Portal will launch on September 28, 2024, at 11:59 PM.

NSFAS applications are now being accepted for 2024. before September 28th, 2023, send in an NSFAS funding application. Currently, January 31 is the application deadline for 2024. Make sure to submit your application by the deadline because late submissions won’t be accepted.
NSFAS 2024 Application Document
The following papers must be in certified copy form and cannot be older than three months. Your documentation needs to be certified by the South African Police Service or the South African Post Office. This also applies if you are under the age of 18 or over the age of 18 but STILL DEPENDENT on the joint household income of your parents or guardians:
- a certified copy of your South African ID or birth certificate. If you are under 16 years old and do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card, you must show a certified copy of your unabridged birth certificate.
- IDs for the parents or guardians (death certificate)
- IDs for the parents or guardians (death certificate if applicable)
- IDs for each person living in your house
- If you are working, you may use your pay stubs or appointment letters as evidence of your own or your guardian’s annual household income. (This applies to all forms of income for all family members, including grants from SASSA, Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and retirement, life, disability, or other benefits received in a single payment or over the course of a year.)
- a certified copy of your most recent transcript or set of test results. (If applicable)
- You don’t need to submit this if you’re in grade 12 right now.)
- records from the university’s registrar (if applicable)
- travel and lodging documentation (if applicable)
- Download the consent form, complete it, and have each applicant who has declared income sign it.
- If you have a disability, download and complete the Disability Annexure A Form.
How to Apply for NSFAS Online
An NSFAS application should be submitted by following the specific steps outlined below.
- the nsfas.org.za website
- Make a MyNSFAS account by registering.
- Enter the essential information in the space provided after pressing the Apply tap.
- Add the necessary files as needed.
- Click Submit to email your NSFAS application.
- The NSFAS online application for the following academic year will go live on September 28, 2023. Applicants can only see and submit award applications on the NSFAS application opening date.
What Is Financed Under NSFAS
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme will assist you with these study-related expenses if your application is approved.
- Accommodation
- transport, a budget for books, and a living allowance
- Allowance for personal expenses or incidentals
- However, if you are a student at the University of South Africa (UNISA), NSFAS will pay the price of the educational packages that are indicated below.
- a budget for books for tuition (subject to the number of modules you register)
- a personal care budget
