For those deserving students, this lessens the burden of student debt. Now accepting NSFAS applications for 2024. By September 28, 2023, submit an application for NSFAS funding.

At one of the application centers, you can complete a paper copy of the application.

Fill in the spaces on the NSFAS application form in CAPITAL characters and BLACK ink.
Keep everything intact, and make sure your text is readable.
Get the parent or legal guardian to sign the consent form.
Have certified copies of the necessary supplementary documents on hand, and attach them to the application before submitting it.
Documents must be certified on the front side of the page, and they must do so within three months.
Send the application form, complete with your signature, to a NYDA assistant.
A barcode will be included with the application. Wait for the brief receipt card acknowledgment with the duplicate barcode.

Who Can Receive NSFAS Funding

To be eligible for bursaries, applicants must adhere to the following four standards;

every single South African
Funding candidates with a total annual household income of less than R350 000 are eligible for all SASSA awards.
a handicapped individual: The annual income of the household cannot exceed R600,000.
students who started their studies before 2024 and whose household income is not greater than R122 000 annually

Documents Required For Manual NSFAS Applications

The following documents should be prepared as certified copies and they should be no more than three months old. At the South, your documents must be certified.

African Post Office or the African Police Service. This also applies if you are under the age of 18 or if you are over 18 but STILL DEPENDENT on your parent’s or guardian’s combined household income:
a legitimate copy of your birth certificate or South African ID. If you are under 16 years old and lack a green bar-coded ID or a smart
certified copy of your unabridged birth certificate along with your application for an ID card.
IDs for the guardian or parents (death certificate if applicable)
IDs for each person living in your house
A paystub, appointment letter, or other proof of your family’s annual income, if you have a job, indicating your parents, guardians, or yourself (This applies to all employment or income sources for all household members.) This also includes any lump-sum or regular payments of retirement, life, disability, or other benefits, as well as grants from the SASSA and the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).
a certified copy of your most recent transcript or set of test results. (If you’re currently in Grade 12, you don’t have to turn this in.)
records from the university’s registrar (if applicable)
travel and lodging documentation (if applicable)
evidence of matrimony (if applicable)
